WHY NOT TO HOLD A GRUDGE AND JUST LET IT GO

In view of all that is happening in this world I found this blip on Facebook (naturally) and I thought I would pass it along. Something to think about for maintaining friendships in the future. Why NOT to hold a grudge! Human’s are a very self-preserving species, When we’ve been wronged, we want the world to know. We want the other humans to be accountable for their hurtful actions. Is that so bad? To put it simply, the answer it yes. The reason for holding onto that grudge may seem valid to you: you were incredibly upset and the wrongdoer deserved to feel your wrath. But is that other person - or their actions - really worth jeopardizing your own health? Gandhi once said “Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong.” It takes a lot of courage to move on from a painful experience inflicted on you by someone else. Here are seven reasons why it’s better to forgive than to hold onto a grudge.

1. DON’T CARRY GRUDGES: Forgiving & forgetting is necessary for your own happiness. Holding a grudge means you're also holding onto resentment, anger, hurt & other negative emotions that are standing in the way of your own happiness. 2. TREAT EVERYONE WITH KINDNESS: Kindness is not only contagious,it's also proven to make you happier. 3. BE THANKFUL: People who are thankful for what they have are better able to cope with stress, have more positive emotions, and are better able to reach their goals. Keeping a daily list of what you're thankful for has been linked to happier moods, greater optimism and even better physical health. 4. DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF: If what you're upset about will be irrelevant a year, a month, a week or even a day form now, why sweat? Happy people know how to let life's daily irritations roll off their backs. 5. SPEAK WELL OF OTHERS: Talking negatively about someone is like taking a bath in negative emotions, your body soaks them up. 6. DON’T COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS: You're unique. So don't measure your own worth by comparing yourself to those around you. Measure your own success based on your progress alone. 7. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVE PEOPLE: The saying “misery loves company” is entirely true. That's why you need to choose friends who are optimistic & happy themselves, as you will be surrounded with positive energy.
