TIPS FOR HIGHER-QUALITY SLEEP Sleep is essential to good health. Unfortunately, over a third of Americans are not getting enough sleep. Over time, sleep deprivation can take a toll on one's overall wellness. Like air, water and food, sleep is like fuel for your body. If you're feeling more wired than tired at bedtime, it may be time to improve your sleep routine. Here are some suggestions for a better night's rest: COOL DOWN: If your first quiet moment to relax comes
when you get into bed, your mind will race to try to get all it's thinking done. Shut down phones and other devices at least one hour before bed and set an even earlier cutoff time for work.
MAKE A ROUTINE: Bedtime routines are important but they don't have to be elaborate. It helps to create a series of steps to be done in a consistent order. This would include stretching, breathing exercises or journaling. Reading can be one of the most powerful sleep associations. DON’T STRUGGLE: If you aren't falling asleep as quickly as you want, or if you are struggling with insomnia, stop trying to fall asleep. The body knows how to sleep and will sleep when it's ready. Wait until you are very sleepy before going to bed and then read, listen to an audio book or do something quiet to distract your mind until sleep comes to you. Sleep is meant to restore the mind and body, not cause stress, so if you're having trouble getting enough of it, it may be time to tweak your nighttime routine

WHY NOT TO HOLD A GRUDGE AND JUST LET IT GO
In view of all that is happening in this world I found this blip on Facebook (naturally) and I thought I would pass it along. Something to think about for maintaining friendships in the future. Why NOT to hold a grudge! Human’s are a very self-preserving species, When we’ve been wronged, we want the world to know. We want the other humans to be accountable for their hurtful actions. Is that so bad? To put it simply, the answer it yes. The reason for holding onto that grudge may seem valid to you: you were incredibly upset and the wrongdoer deserved to feel your wrath. But is that other person - or their actions - really worth jeopardizing your own health? Gandhi once said “Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong.” It takes a lot of courage to move on from a painful experience inflicted on you by someone else. Here are seven reasons why it’s better to forgive than to hold onto a grudge.
1. DON’T CARRY GRUDGES: Forgiving & forgetting is necessary for your own happiness. Holding a grudge means you're also holding onto resentment, anger, hurt & other negative emotions that are standing in the way of your own happiness. 2. TREAT EVERYONE WITH KINDNESS: Kindness is not only contagious,it's also proven to make you happier. 3. BE THANKFUL: People who are thankful for what they have are better able to cope with stress, have more positive emotions, and are better able to reach their goals. Keeping a daily list of what you're thankful for has been linked to happier moods, greater optimism and even better physical health. 4. DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF: If what you're upset about will be irrelevant a year, a month, a week or even a day form now, why sweat? Happy people know how to let life's daily irritations roll off their backs. 5. SPEAK WELL OF OTHERS: Talking negatively about someone is like taking a bath in negative emotions, your body soaks them up. 6. DON’T COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS: You're unique. So don't measure your own worth by comparing yourself to those around you. Measure your own success based on your progress alone. 7. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVE PEOPLE: The saying “misery loves company” is entirely true. That's why you need to choose friends who are optimistic & happy themselves, as you will be surrounded with positive energy.

Mistakes Served Sunny Side Up
Mistakes kind of make the world go 'round. Aside from keeping us on our toes , there have been many useful inventions that only came about by mistake! Potato Chips? Created by a chef who was trying to “get back at a customer” who had complained one too many times about his French-fried potatoes dish. The annoyed chef cut the potatoes ridiculously thin, fried them and piled on the salt. Surprise! The customer loved them and so did the rest of the world. Popsicle's? Invented by an 11 year old who accidently left his drink outside overnight and found he had a frozen treat in the morning. Play Doh? Originally meant to be a wallpaper cleaner, but kids kept playing with it. Silly String? Two scientists attempted to create a foamable spray cast for sprained or broken limbs, reportedly sprayed the nozzle and crazy string flew across the room. They thought, well that's a fail; but boy, kids would love to play with this! Then there are Corn Flakes, Teflon, safety glass, Post It Notes, Silly Putty, the X-ray, champagne, super glue, the Slinky, the microwave and plenty more. All created by mistake! It's a new year...let's give thanks for the many blessings in our lives, and let's give thanks for all of those toe-curling mistakes. While definitely sometimes beneficial and educational- they only happen once in a while. (Taken From The JN, November 2019 Issue)
LIFE IS LIKE A ROUND OF GOLF Life is like a round of golf With many a turn and twist. But the game is much too sweet and short To curse the shots you've missed. Sometimes you'll hit it straight and far Sometimes the putts roll true. But each round has its errant shots And troubles to play through. So always swing with courage No matter what the lie. And never let the hazards Destroy the joy inside. And keep a song within your heart, Give thanks that you can play. For the round is much too short and sweet To let it slip away.

Now We Must Follow There was a Jewish man in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, New York, whose name was Yankel, He owned a bakery there, and he had survived the Nazi concentration camps. He tells his story: You know why it is that I’m alive today? I was a kid, just a teenager at the time. We were on the train, in a boxcar, being taken to Auschwitz. Night came and it was freezing, deathly cold in that boxcar. The Germans would leave the cars on the side of the tracks overnight, sometimes for days on end without any food, and of course, no blankets to keep us warm. Sitting next to me was an older Jew – a beloved elderly man whom I recognized from my hometown. Although I recognized him, I had never seen him like this. He was shivering from head to toe, and looked terrible. So I wrapped my arms around him and began rubbing him to warm him up. I rubbed his arms, his legs, his face, and his neck. I begged him to hang on. All night long, I kept the man warm this way. I was tired, I was freezing cold myself, and my fingers were numb, but I didn’t stop rubbing the heat onto this man’s body. Hours and hours went by this way. Finally, night passed, morning came, and the sun began to shine. There was some warmth in the cabin, and then I looked around the car to see some of the other Jews in the car. To my horror, all I could see were frozen bodies, and all I could hear was a deathly silence. Nobody else in that cabin made it through the night – they died from the frost. Only two people survived: the old man and me. The old man survived because somebody kept him warm; I survived because I was warming him. There is Kingdom life in the commandments of Christ: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. – John 13:34 Do to others as you would have them do to you. – Luke 6:31 The first law of the Kingdom is selfless love, and the greatest manifestation of this is through service. Just like that boxcar, this world can be a dark and cold place. We live by serving others. There is no other way. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many. – Mark 10:45 By serving others we share life with others, and enjoy the truest life ourselves.
PADDINGTON BEAR
Did you know that the beloved character Paddington Bear was inspired by Jewish children who escape the Holocaust on the Kindertransport? Creator Michael Bond (1926-2017) was motivated by his memories of children arriving at London's Reading station during WWII. These young refugees each carried a small suitcase and wore labels around their necks to identify them. It's no coincidence that in the book, the little bear is found sitting on his suitcase in Paddington Station in London with a note around his neck that reads, “Please take care of this bear. Thank you.” He is discovered and adopted by the Brown family, thus the name Paddington Bear. In the story, Paddington's best friend is Mr. Samuel Gruber, an elderly Jew from Hungary who escaped the Nazis. And guess what?! When “Paddington 2” hit the big screen in Israel in 2018, the voice of one of the characters was played by Nechama Rivlin, the late wife of Israeli President Reuven Ruvi Rivlin.

FROM OUR KITCHEN TO YOURS
Dear Tam Members,
First I want to start by thanking each of you for trusting us to feed your families throughout this strange and difficult time. When we heard Tam would be open for curbside carry out we did not expect it to be the busiest ala cart days we have ever done! It has been both exciting and overwhelming but with your trust and patience, it has allowed us to figure out problems and adjust those issues to give you the best products and service from our kitchen to yours. We have a good system in place now, in large part to our Assistant Golf Pro, Ian. We had the pleasure of working with him for a few days. Ian’s organizational skills and great handwriting have been a key part to our Tam TOGO success. We have heard a few times that he is very capable in a kitchen but we have yet to see his cooking chops, maybe it’s a good thing he is back on the Golf course! I would also like to thank the rest of our incredibly hard working staff, Ivan, Monico, Chris, Patrick, Russ, Rick, Ray, Jeremy, Bashar, who all have helped us without question. We are proud to be part of this Tam Family. We are looking forward to the day when we can place your food on a plate and serve it to you in the brand new grille room rather than in a styrofoam box, being delivered by a person with a mask on to your car. The rest of my staff is anxious to get back to work as well and we are all eager to see and talk to everyone at a BBQ instead of over the phone. Things are going to be different now for sure, but we have been in constant contact with the health department and the FDA to be ready for any and all changes to come our way. WE GOT YOU! Mike, Randi and myself feel so blessed to come to work everyday and prepare delicious food for your families. It has been an adjustment for us all but we are enjoying every minute. Thank you again for your support, it means more than you know.
